Don’t Give Your Spouse What You Cannot Accept – Simi’s Mother Writes About Marriage

Mrs Jedidah Akinsola, the mother of Nigerian singer Simi, has shared her two cents about a wrong idea about marriage.

According to her, the precept husbands have to be respected and ladies loved should not be condoned.

She told her followers via the microblogging platform that everyone needs both love and respect and not one of them. She urged all and sundry to treat their spouses with love and respect just like how they would want to be treated in return.

She tweeted: “Please let’s stop this noise of husband needs respect & wife needs love. Show me one human being who doesn’t need respect & love from his/her spouse. Let all couples learn to treat each other with respect & love. Don’t give your spouse what you cannot accept.

In other news, Nollywood diva Charity Nnaji has postulated that men feel threatened when their wives are in a better position or wealthier than them.

According to Charity, the African mentality has brainwashed men to make them feel that when their wives are wealthy than them, it’s the most intimidating thing that could ever happen to them and they try to pick up the race.

By so doing, they end up being violent and abusive other than being forbearing of their wife’s status. She warned unmarried people to save their advice on marital issues for themselves because what she survived as a divorce may kill them.

She wrote via her Instagram stories;

Except you are married or have been married before, pls don’t advice me on marital issues I won’t take it, because sometimes what I survived as a Divorce might kill you ..
