Adolphus Eze-nwagu, who was charged with assault after a fight ensued between him and his wife who he alleged has been barren for 13 years, has been remanded in Kirikiri prison.
The 50-year-old man from Awgbu town in Orumba Local government of Anambra State, reportedly battered his wife at their residence at 12 Musibau Saidi Street, Fatoki in Egan, a suburb of Lagos State.
Telling his own side of the story, Adolphus said he was left with no option than to marry
another wife, as he had taken his wife of 13 years to various churches and hospitals. According to him, he discussed this option of a second wife with his wife, Ngozi, and even allowed her to find a new wife for him. However, he alleged that the lady his wife Ngozi brought, was not up to his standard, so he told her he was going to the village to get a much younger wife.
PM Express reports that when he arrived Lagos with his new wife, Ngozi was so bitter that she seized the house documents which she destroyed, alongside other valuable properties.
The case has however been adjourned till April 10, 2017.
