Award is for individual research in the countries of the NIS (New Independent States): Armenia, Azerbaijan, Balarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
