Türkiye’s scholarships, Offered by the Presidency of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), the government-funded program covers university students and post-graduate researchers. Along with cash aid for students, it gives research opportunities to the applicants.

Türkiye scholarships offer full funding to study at bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate or research level at any Turkish university. The program not only offers funding to selected applicants, but also covers the process of preparation and placement in universities. Türkiye Scholarships is a government-funded, competitive scholarship program, awarded to outstanding students to pursue full-time or short-term program at the top universities in Turkey. Applications will be open to applicants who wish to study at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.

Applications Instuctions for Türkiye Scholarships for International Students

• Fill out the online form and upload all required documents (scanned copies). Candidates do not need to translate their documents. It will also be beneficial for candidates to include their extracurricular activities and achievements in different field.
  Chose your potential host universities (in order of preference). Please pay attention to each program’s requirements;
• Write an original letter of intent explaining your preferences, expectations, and future goals;
• After reviewing all the stages and documents, submit the application.

Required Documents

• A valid National Identification Document OR a valid Passport;
• A recent photo of the candidate;
• National exam scores (if any);
• Diploma or temporary certificate of graduation;
• International exam results (like GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.) if requested by the chosen university or program;
• International language test results such as TOEFL, DELF, if requested by the chosen university or program;
• A research proposal and an example of your written work (only for PhD applications).
• Transcript;

Important Details to Note

Many programs in Turkish universities are taught in Turkish language. However, some departments and universities may offer programs in English and other languages. Candidates who wish to study in such programs must be able to provide an internationally accepted language proficiency certificate. (TOEFL or other equivalent certifications if university officially stated acceptable). Most of these programs require international admission test results (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.). Candidates can check the language of instruction while choosing programs in the application system.

Undergraduate candidates who possess International qualifications such as SAT or GCSE instead of national exam scores, will need to provide the minimum required qualifications needed for completing secondary school according to these international exams.

All Türkiye Scholarships awardees who do not possess C1 Level Certificate for Turkish Proficiency (including those who are placed into English or other language medium programs) must attend 1-year Turkish Language Course and attain the C1 Level Certificate by the end of their academic year.

Eligible Students for Türkiye Scholarships for International Students

Minimum Academic Criteria:

• Minimum academic achievement for Bachelor’s degree applicants: 70%
• Minimum academic achievement for Master’s and Doctorate degree applicants: 75%
• Minimum academic achievement for Health Science (Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy) applicants: 90%

Age Criteria:

• To be under the age of 21 for Undergraduate programs
• To be under the age of 30 for Master’s programs
•  To be under the age of 35 for Doctorate programs
•  To be under the age of 45 for Research Scholarships

Eligible Groups:

• Citizens of all countries
• Graduates or applicants who are able to graduate at the end of the current academic year (before August 2023)
• Researchers and academicians

Scholarship value and inclusions:

The scholarship includes university and program placement, monthly stipend (Bachelor: 1000 TL per month; Masters: 1,400 TL per month; PhD: 1,800 TL per month), tuition fees, once-off return flight ticket, health insurance, accommodation, and one year Turkish Language Course.

The normal duration of award is:

• Undergraduate: 1 year Turkish Language course + 4-6 years (depending on the normal duration of the program)
• Master’s: 1 year Turkish Language course + 2 years
• PhD: 1 year Turkish Language course + 4 years

Scholarship benefits of Türkiye Scholarships for International Students

Allowance

• For Undergraduate Students 250 USD per month
• For Master’s Students 360 USD per month
• For Ph.D. Students 500 USD per month
• For Research Scholarships Holders 900 USD per month

Accommodation

Türkiye Scholarship students can stay in public university dormitories without paying any fee. Students who do not want to stay in these dormitories can use other housing possibilities on their own expenses.

Tuition and Fees

Türkiye Scholarship students do not pay any tuition or university fee for education.

Health Expenses

Türkiye Scholarship students are covered by public health insurance.

Turkish Language Course

Türkiye Scholarship Students take Turkish language course for one year if they do not have proof of Turkish Language knowledge. Turkiye Scholarship students who study in other languages instead of Turkish must also take Turkish Language Course.

Transportation

Türkiye Scholarship students will get a certain amount of money for their transportation expenses at their first arrival to Türkiye and departure after graduation from Türkiye.

Application calender for the Türkiye Scholarships for International Students

• Application openings: January 10, 2023.
• Application deadline: February 20, 2023.
• Start of assessment process: February 2023.
• Start of interview period: March 2023.
• End of assessment process: May 2023.
• End of interview period: June 2023.
• Announcement of results: July 2023.
• Signing of stock exchange agreements and visa procedures begins: July 2023.
• End of the scholarship agreement and visa procedures: August 2023.
• New student trip to Türkiye: September 2023.

Deadline for Application

Applications can only be made individually through www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr by the candidates. There are no institutions or persons authorized to apply for Türkiye Scholarships. Candidates applying at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels are welcome to apply between 10 January – 20 February 2023. Research applicants can apply throughout the year.
